The Lowe Institute of Political Economy is a part of Claremont McKenna College where professors and students conduct data-driven analysis of questions for business and public policy.
They have joined the Fontana chamber to form connections with local businesses to learn of their challenges, questions, and interests so as to better serve. On March 27th, they will host Inland Empire Vision, a conference with information relevant to local business and policy. The program includes economic forecasts, a new consumer sentiment index specifically for the IE, a conversation with two local CEOS on the effect of the $15 minimum wage, and a forum where participants can share challenges and ideas.
For over 40 years, SoCal Motorcycle Dismantlers have grown a large warehouse packed with ready-to-ride motorcycles, fixer-uppers, and carries a large selection of good used parts for most major brands. They are constantly taking in bikes, so their inventory is always growing.

We're pleased to have OPARC as a member of our Chamber. OPARC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization established in 1950. Their mission is to support, employ, and transform the lives of people with disabilities. We accomplish our mission by offering a wide variety of services and programs including employment, community integration, behavior management support, basic academic instruction, leisure/recreation activities, speech pathology services, multi-sensory experiences, and assistance with the activities of daily living.
OPARC addresses the needs of the developmentally disabled by helping them achieve their full potential. We are known in the field for remarkable success in finding jobs for participants and ensuring success through ongoing training, guidance, and supervision. Currently, more than half of OPARC’s participants hold full or part-time jobs, enhancing the productivity of the economic community and increasing the self-esteem of the workers. OPARC operates its programs year-round, five days per week (Monday - Friday) out of our eight locations.
Business Services Division
The Business Services Division currently operates a Work Activity Program, which provides participants with vocational skills training, paid work experience, and individual case management services. The related Supported Employment Program provides participants with the opportunity to work in an integrated community environment and receive specialized services to overcome identified barriers to successful employment. Business Services are provided out of our headquarters in Montclair.
Adult Development Centers
OPARC currently operates four Adult Development Center day programs, Monday through Friday. Two of the facilities are located in Montclair, one is in Rancho Cucamonga, and one is in Ontario. Program activities include opportunities for paid work, functional education, and socialization. One of the centers (the Monte Vista Adult Development Center) also provides specialized support and training to individuals who are considered medically fragile.
OPARC operates three Summit Services, community-based programs that serve participants with the “dual diagnosis” of developmental disabilities and mental illness. These persons need a high level of supervision and training to access community services safely, improve their social skills, and discover opportunities for paid work. Some of the participants in this program are transitioning from state developmental centers and attempting to live in non-institutional settings successfully for the first time. Summit Services are provided out of our locations in San Bernardino, Walnut, and Upland.

There's exciting news in healthcare that most people have not yet discovered. Primary care, and the healthcare industry, are rapidly transforming to meet the needs of those who view the costs of medical plans as out of reach.
A new type of healthcare option has emerged called direct primary care.
What is direct primary care?
It's a new healthcare plan where patients are charged a fixed, low monthly amount to get primary care services.
Clinics that offer these membership plans can handle a range of services from strep throat to stitches for minor gashes. This new type of medical plan can help patients avoid emergency room bills and costly hospital visits. Moreover, the cost of this new style of medicine is within reach of people on tight budgets.
Urgent Care Travel (UCT) in Fontana provides such a healthcare membership plan. For only $60 per month, an individual can receive ongoing medical care. The membership only costs about the price of a cup of coffee a day. For a flat monthly membership fee, one can visit UCT's clinic an unlimited number of times. Its health plan provides care for chronic disease management, infections and minor work-related injury services.
Some primary care providers, such as Urgent Care Travel, also offer "telemedicine." Using telemedicine, a patient can visit with a doctor live over phone and video. It allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients remotely using telecommunications technology.
While direct primary care is not insurance, it offers routine regular care for day-to-day medical needs. Many health care providers consider this new health care option as a form of preventive medicine. Getting regular primary care, rather than avoiding medical care entirely due to lack of insurance, could help prevent costlier complications like an asthma attack or a diabetic crisis.
