When writing ad copy, you need to know your target audience. If you’re selling a product that appeals to a demographic you are unfamiliar with, you only need to do a little research to fine-tune your approach. Have a conversation with them and learn what triggers they react to. Simply checking their reviews for a similar product on Amazon, or reading their comments on social media will help you learn more about who you are selling to.
Once you’ve established a good idea of who you’re targeting, revisit your ad copy. Read it out loud, to yourself, and to a friend. If it makes you laugh, or feel ridiculous (like you’re giving a cheesy sales pitch) trust your gut. Keep writing out ideas until you feel like you’re naturally recommending the product to a good friend. Don’t forget to include a creative call to action!
Not only does this approach have better appeal to your audience, but they should also connect more with the content. Your end result should be concise and feel as though you’re informing the customer of something they can genuinely benefit from.
When selling a product, it is not enough to simply advertise the product itself. You must make the consumer emotionally attached to this product by creating a sense of urgency and scarcity. This can be achieved by implementing limited quantities, time-sensitive sales, or showcasing that your product can solve a problem. Limited quantities create the urgency to buy the product before the stock runs out, if a product is always readily available it can elicit a consumer response of “I can always get it later” or “I should wait and compare other brands.” When faced with a time constriction, the consumer has to make the choice of buying the product now or possibly losing the opportunity forever.
Stand apart from the social media crowd by engaging with your clientele. Some easy ways to do this is replying to comments of your post, using professional photos, doing giveaways, and going live to talk to your community, which creates a more approachable brand. Engaging content builds a stronger relationship with your customers, and will have them coming back to your profile multiple times!
